Correctional Facilities |
The Personal Security problem |
|
The SCS 30/60 is the logical choice for correctional and detention center facilities and this is where the
major portion of our installations are. Nowhere is the need for personal security greater than in a
prison, jail, or other holding facility. The prisoner who has committed aggravated assault or other
crimes, and who was arrested by fully armed officers, is now in routine contact with guards or deputies
who cannot be armed. On the streets, normal peace officer practice would ensure proper back-up during
confrontation with a known violent offender. However, in a jail or prison, one unarmed guard may be in
contact with dozens of offenders. The difference, of course, is that during incarceration the violent
offender presumably cannot escape if he attacks a guard. |
